Playing is so much more than just fun
We encounter a lot of people in Cambodia (parents and educators) who think that play is important for children because it is fun. We ask teachers “Do you let the students play?” and they often answer that the children play during break time or when there is some time left at the end of the day.
We see it as our mission to inform as many people as possible that playing is not just fun. Through play children learn many skills and get many experiences that will help them later in life.
Play helps to build knowledge, to improve social skills, and to boost emotional well-being and physical health. Children will learn about the world and about themselves when they play, but they also learn skills they can use for study, work and social life-like confidence, self-esteem, resilience, interaction, social skills, independence, curiosity and coping with challenging situations.
We at Panha Sabay help schools and teachers to improve in play-based-learning. With our materials, ideas, and training it is often easy to make big steps forward in this area.
